🎬 Amazing Windows Shortcuts You Aren’t Using

video preview

My latest video is on some lesser-known but extremely useful Windows shortcuts. You have to know these if you want to master your PC!

Some of my favorites:

  • Clipboard History (Win + V) . This brings up a list of your complete clipboard history. From there, you can select and paste any of your previously copied items. Super useful for finding something you copied a few clicks back.
  • Emoji Picker (Win + .) This brings up the Emoji picker, so you can quickly add some color and personality to your text. ⭐💐🤸‍♀️ Use arrow keys to browse, or the search box to find something specific.
  • Reopen Browser Tabs (Ctrl + Shift + T). Ever closed your browser tabs by mistake? This will bring them all back in the exact same order you had them in originally!

🤓 Two Apps I Use Daily

People often ask - ‘Leila, what software do you use to record your screen for YouTube videos and courses?’

The answer is Camtasia, by Techsmith. It’s a one-time purchase software with great pro features that help you make clear and engaging tutorials or presentations. For example, it lets you zoom in and still maintain crispy image quality, as well as hide your mouse from viewers, or make your mouse movements seem smoother.

I also use SnagIt when I want to capture a static image or create a quick GIF. It lets me add annotations like arrows, text, or shapes to highlight important details, making my instructional manuals more clear and engaging.

🤓 Geeky News

📊 Excel (Coming to Excel 365 version, currently beta) - Stale Value Formatting
A great feature for those that have large files and tend to put the calculation mode on manual instead of automatic. With Stale value formatting you get to make sure what you report on is actually the updated, refreshed version and not formulas that haven’t been updated yet, because stale cells will show as struck out.

Once this feature is rolled out, it will be on by default - you have the ability to turn it off if you’d like.

📝 Word (for the web) - View your document across separate pages
You can now view your document across separate pages in Word for the web, just as you can across the other platforms (Windows, Mac, iOS, and Android). Microsoft are also working on adding new formatting capabilities to Word for the web, including paragraph options, columns, and improved headers and footers.

👩‍🏫 PowerPoint - Create and Assign Tasks
You can now create, assign, and resolve tasks directly inside PowerPoint for Windows, Mac, and the web. In the body of a comment, just @mention the person you want to assign a task to, select Assign to, then send an email notification to the assignee.

We’re almost done with our New Excel Business Charts Course and it’s looking great! I'm currently reviewing the final videos. Meanwhile, the team is busy finalizing the cheat sheets, lesson notes, and quick guides. This morning, I reviewed the lecture "How to Pick the Right Chart". And wow! It took me right back to my corporate job, staring at the screen, wondering, "How on earth do I make this data tell a story?!". There was SO MUCH to show. Picking the right chart might seem easy, but...
